Biography. Eldest son of Louis de Valois, Duke of Orléans (q.v.) by Valentina Visconti; succeeded his father as Duke in 1407. Taken prisoner at Agincourt, remained in captivity in England 1415-1440. He had married (1) Isabelle de Valois in 1406; (2) Bonne d'Armagnac, 1410; (3) Marie de Clèves, 1440.
