Jean-Luc Mélenchon ( French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ lyk melɑ̃ʃɔ̃] ⓘ; born 19 August 1951) is a French politician who was a member of the National Assembly for the 4th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône from 2017 to 2022. He led the La France Insoumise group in the National Assembly from 2017 to 2021.

Membre de l’ Organisation communiste internationaliste de 1972 à 1976, il entre ensuite au Parti socialiste (PS) et devient successivement conseiller municipal de Massy en 1983, conseiller général de l' Essonne en 1985 et sénateur en 1986.
