José Mariano Arista (26 July 1802 – 7 August 1855) was a Mexican soldier and politician who also became president of Mexico.
José Mariano Martín Buenaventura Ignacio Nepomuceno García de Arista Nuez (San Luis Potosí, Virreinato de Nueva España; 26 de julio de 1802-Océano Atlántico, 7 de agosto de 1855), citado como Mariano Arista, fue un político y militar mexicano que se desempeñó como presidente de México entre el 15 de enero de 1851 y el 5 de enero de 1853.
Mariano Arista ( b. 1802; d. 1855), president of Mexico (1851–1853). Arista enlisted as a cadet in the Provincial Regiment of Puebla at the age of fifteen. In June 1821 he joined the Army of the Three Guarantees under the leadership of Agustín de Iturbide to support the Plan of Iguala for autonomy and independence for Mexico.

Mariano Arista was an experienced Mexican officer by the time he commanded troops at the Battle of Palo Alto on May 8, 1846. Arista began his military career as an officer in the Spanish Army.
