Paul Eugène Magloire (French pronunciation: [pɔl øʒɛn maɡlwaʁ]; July 19, 1907 – July 12, 2001), nicknamed Kanson Fè (Iron Pants), was the Haitian president from 1950 to 1956.
Paul Eugène Magloire, president of Haiti (1950–1956) was born in Cap Haitien into a family of the country's black elite. Magloire received an education at the Lycée Philippe Guerrier, at the military academy, and at the National University, where he earned a law degree.
Paul Eugène Magloire was an army colonel who in 1950 became president of Haiti, the world's first black republic. Six years later, Magloire was ousted by a coup and succeeded by François "Doc" Duvalier, whose regime—and that of his son Jean-Claude, known as "Baby Doc"—remained in power for the next thirty years.
