Jimmy began playing guitar at a young age and by the time he was 17, he had become an accomplished guitarist playing locally around Baton Rouge, his hometown. At 18, he jointly headed up a band called “The Rockets” and was arguably one of the top rhythm and blues bands on the Gulf Coast.
He was one of the biggest recording stars of the day, hitting his stride with seven charted hits between 1958 and 1962, three being in the Top Ten. He was one of the most popular teen idols of the ’50s and ’60s. Jimmy continues to write and record and successfully entertain fans all over the US.
