Jay Schellen (born May 20, 1960) is an American drummer who is the current drummer of the English progressive rock band Yes, having toured with the band as an additional drummer since 2016 before becoming an official member in 2023, following the death of longtime drummer Alan White.
Since 2016 Jay Schellen has been on tour with progressive rock legends YES, stepping in for and now sharing the drumming duties alongside legendary drummer Alan White. The 2017 live album "Topographic Drama" by YES captures Jay's performances with Alan.
After winning the audition of over fifty drummers, Jay went on to record three records, 4 worldwide tours, and film five M.T.V. videos with HURRICANE . After a stalemate in negotiating a new contract with Capitol Records HURRICANE disbanded.
JAY SCHELLEN YES were delighted when Jay joined the band as a permanent member in 2023, fulfilling Alan White’s wishes in becoming the new drummer with YES. Having grown up playing along to YES records. He idolised Alan and in the 80s they became great friends with a mutual respect as drummers.
