Dec 28, 2023 · I’m writing to share the sad news of the passing of Francis Dhomont, who died peacefully in a hospital in Avignon on December 28th, aged 97. Francis was not only a beloved CIM/ICEM member and regular participant in ICEM concerts, but also a towering figure in the world of acousmatic/ electroacoustic music.
The French composer Francis Dhomont, a pupil of Nadia Boulanger, had a lightbulb moment in 1963 and dedicated the rest of his long life to electroacoustic music. Some consider him the true discoverer of musique concrete.
