Apink (에이핑크) is a five-member girl group under IST Entertainment[Notes 1]. Originally as seven, they debuted on April 19, 2011 with the mini album Seven Springs of Apink.
2011-2012: Debut with Seven Springs of Apink, "Snow Pink", first music show win and Une Année 2013: Yookyung's departure, Secret Garden and commercial success
On April 23, 2013, A Cube announced that Yookyung would be leaving the group to focus on her studies.
2021-2022: Horn, Naeun's departure and Apink CHOBOM
On February 26, 2021, it was announced that Apink would be releasing a fan song to celebrate their 10th anniversary on April 19. The digital single was later revealed to be "Thank You" and the lyrics were co-written by member Bomi. On April 29, Play M Entertainment announced that all members renewed their contracts except for Naeun. They added that she will remain a member of the group despite her departure from the agency. On December 22, a representative of IST Entertainment confirmed that Apink will be coming back in February 2023 with all six members. However, on January 17, 2022, IST Entertainment announed that Naeun will not be participating in the album promotions due to schedule conflicts. On January 21, Apink dropped six individual teasers for their second special album Horn which was released on February 14. On April 8, Naeun shared a handwritten letter on Instagram in which she revealed that she had decided to part ways with the group. On April 19, the group released the digital single "I Want You To Be Happy" to celebrate their 11th debut anniversary. All five members participated in the lyrics for this release. On June 13, IST Entertainment announced that Apink members Chorong and Bomi were preparing to release an album as a new unit in July as Apink CHOBOM. On June 22, it was announced that CHOBOM would be releasing their first single album, "Copycat", on July 12.
2023: Self, contract renewals, "Pink Christmas"
On December 2, 2022, member Hayoung revealed that Apink is preparing for an album. On February 22, 2023, IST Entertainment confirmed that Apink will be releasing their 10th mini album sometime in April. On February 23, IST Entertainment announced that the members' exclusive contracts will expire in April and that they are currently discussing the renewal. On March 13, it was announced that the group will be releasing their 10th mini album, Self, on April 5. On April 28, IST Entertainment announced that Chorong, Bomi, Namjoo, and Hayoung decided not to renew their contracts but will still maintain their activities as members of Apink. Eunji decided to renew her contract with IST. On that same day, it was announced that the four had signed exclusive contracts with Choi Creative Lab. The agency stated that they will support their individual activities and will cooperate with IST Entertainment for Apink's activities. On November 30, it was announced that the group will be releasing their special single, "Pink Christmas", on December 11.
