The Marvelettes were an American girl group that achieved popularity in the early to mid-1960s. They consisted of schoolmates Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart (now Cowart Motley), and Georgia Dobbins, who was replaced by Wanda Young prior to the group signing their first deal.

Oct 9, 2023 · Below, The Marvelettes, the girl group that introduced Motown to the nation. Katherine Anderson, The Marvelettes: We lived in the projects then, and Georgeanna and Wyanetta lived on the street opposite mine. And so we would always sit up and play cards and music and stuff like that.
The Marvelettes recording career lasted from 1961 to 1970. The group released twelve albums which also included a live record and a few greatest hits packages. Their only album to break the Billboard Top 100 Pop albums charts was the The Marvelettes Greatest Hits released in 1966.
