XX: Beautiful Prey, starring Ren Osugi of New Love in Tokyo fame, is an erotic thriller which neither particularly erotic nor thrilling. It comes with characters monologue-ing strange ideas about philosophising S&M and the overall cheapness is only mitigated by a few interesting visual ideas which reveal that Ikeda best operates in the domain of horror rather than anything else.
