The Equalizer 2 (also promoted as The Equalizer II and EQ2) is a 2018 American vigilante action-thriller film directed by Antoine Fuqua. It is the sequel to the 2014 film The Equalizer, which was based on the TV series of the same name, as well as the second installment of The Equalizer trilogy. The film stars Denzel Washington in the lead role, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Melissa Leo, Bill Pullman, and Orson Bean in his final film role.

In the first one of these films, the saving graces of far more sympathetic protagonists (in this I include Equalizer 1's Denzel), and somewhat creative use of implements commonly available in a hardware store, made a subpar script just barely supportable but in this one there's nothing to shield you from the threadbare plot. If you like Denzel in the moralizing murder genre, I highly recommend re-watching "Man on Fire" or "Book of Eli" instead.
The only memorable aspect on hand in “The Equalizer 2” is also its least appetizing attribute—the relentless amount of sadistic violence on display. Yes, I am aware that a film along these lines pretty much requires a heaping helping of brutality throughout, but this one, like its predecessor, is so far beyond the pale that it comes closer to being nauseating than exciting.
