Made in 1982, Manoel de Oliveira’s Visita ou memórias e confissões (Visits or Memories and Confessions) has only been released since his death in April this year, at the age of 106. An intensely personal film, he didn’t want to be seen as self-indulgent or blowing his own trumpet, so he embargoed it until he had died.
