Helle is a mentally retarded, deaf and mute village girl who lives high in the Savoy mountains of France. She is taken advantage by the village people for her lack of understanding what's good and bad. Maria is a widow and has two sons, Julien and Fabrice.
Roger Vadim directs a 95 minute drama starring Gwen Welles and Didier Haudepin, about a young man from a small village, who falls for a deaf woman. One of Vadim's non-sillier efforts, show a very negative side of rural France, with a simple story that's adding up to a big scene at the conclusion to make it all count.
