Feb 27, 2018 · Franco Zeffirelli’s Young Toscanini (aka Il giovane Toscanini) is probably the Italian director’s least discussed film. The film is, however, one of Zeffirelli’s most intriguing productions — a meditation on art, politics and social justice.
In Rio de Janeiro in 1886, eighteen-year-old conductor Arturo Toscanini (C. Thomas Howell), in Brazil on an orchestra tour, is torn between an aging soprano attempting a comeback and a mistress his own age.
Franco Zeffirelli directs Tomas Howell, in a 100 minute biopic, about the conductor Arturo Toscanini's trip to Brazil. A bit of a hard find, which is strange, it has Phillipe Noiret and Elizabeth Taylor in it, you'd think a film with them would be less obscure.
