I agree rap sucks. Everyone I’ve know that makes this type of “music” literally does it because they can’t play an instrument. And if they can it’s on a very elementary level. They only understand music insofar as phrasing. Melody chorus bridge etc. it can be entertaining sure.
You can go back to any point in rap history and you're likely to find a similar dividing line -- be it gangsta rap, collaborating with R&B singers, Auto-Tune, or any number of other trends that were viewed as scourges on the industry.
