Picpus Cemetery (French: Cimetière de Picpus, ) is the largest private cemetery in Paris, France, located in the 12th arrondissement. It was created from land seized from the convent of the Chanoinesses de St-Augustin, during the French Revolution.
Picpus Cemetery is a private cemetery in the 12th Arrondissement of Paris, where 1,306 people who were guillotined during the Reign of Terror in 1794 are buried. It also contains the grave of Marquis de Lafayette, a French hero of the American Revolution, and a chapel dedicated to the martyrs of the Terror.
Picpus is still one of the only private cemeteries in Paris today: only descendants of the families of the victims from the Terror can be buried here.
