Shadows in the Palace (Korean: 궁녀; RR: Gungnyeo, literally "(servant-)women of the palace") is a 2007 South Korean period mystery thriller film directed by Kim Mee-jung. The mystery thriller is a fictionalized account of gungnyeo , court maids during South Korea's Joseon era.
In the royal palace of King Jung-Jo, court nurse Chun-Ryung ( Park Jin-Hee) is called into the quarters of the royal concubine Hee-Bin ( Yoon Se-Ah ). One of the royal concubine's maids Wol-Ryung ( Seo Young-Hee) is found hanging to death in her maid chamber.
