Lavrente Indico Diaz (born December 30, 1958) is a Filipino independent filmmaker and former film critic. He is frequently known as one of the key members of the slow cinema movement, and has made several of the longest narrative films on record.
Lav Diaz is a prolific and acclaimed director, writer and editor of experimental and slow cinema. He has made over 30 films, mostly in black and white, and won many awards, including the Golden Lion in 2019.
