Irvin Kershner (born Isadore Kershner; April 29, 1923 – November 27, 2010) was an American director for film and television. Early in his career as a filmmaker he directed quirky, independent drama films, while working as a lecturer at the University of Southern California.
Irvin Kershner was a director, cinematographer and actor who worked on documentaries, TV shows and movies, including Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. He died in 2010 of lung cancer at age 87.
