Henry Mancini (/ m æ n ˈ s iː n i / man-SEE-nee; born Enrico Nicola Mancini; April 16, 1924 – June 14, 1994) was an Italian-American composer, conductor, arranger, pianist and flutist. Often cited as one of the greatest composers in the history of film, [2] [3] he won four Academy Awards , a Golden Globe , and twenty Grammy Awards , plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.

Henry Mancini died in 1994. His wife, Ginny, and their three children - Chris, Monica and Felice; and two grandchildren -Christopher and Luca, continue the Mancini legacy. In April 2004, Mancini was honored by the United States Postal Service with a stamp commemorating his lifetime achievements in film music, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film The Pink Panther.
