In 1957, Tatiana Dokoudovska [2] founded the Kansas City Ballet (KCB) at the Carriage House in what is now Overland Park, Kansas. On April 30, 1957, the company gave its premiere performance at the Victoria Theater (renamed the Lyric Theatre) with Dokoudovska serving as its first artistic director.
Kansas City Ballet dances in the fall, winter, and spring of each year (plus The Nutcracker in December) at the Kauffman Center of the Performing Arts, as well as New Moves at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity. Kansas City Ballet has performed over 400 works in its history.
