Hertford College ( / ˈhɑːrtfərd / HART-fərd ), previously known as Magdalen Hall, is a constituent college of the University of Oxford [3] in England. It is located on Catte Street in the centre of Oxford, directly opposite the main gate to the Bodleian Library.
Hertford is known for its friendly and informal atmosphere – it’s the kind of place where it’s easy to make friends and feel at home. We’re proud of our inclusive ethos and have pioneered access to Oxford for students from under-represented groups for over 50 years.

Hertford College is the successor of two medieval halls of the University of Oxford - Hart Hall and Magdalen Hall (not to be confused with Magdalen College), and a previous ‘Hertford College’ which existed from 1740-1818.
