Friedrich "Fritz" Pfeffer (30 April 1889 – 20 December 1944) was a German dentist and Jewish refugee who hid with Anne Frank and her family and the Van Pels family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. He perished in the Neuengamme concentration camp in Northern Germany.
Arrested: 4 August 1944. Died: 20 December 1944. In November 1942, Fritz Pfeffer joined the Frank and Van Pels families, bringing the number of people in hiding up to eight. He was a lone wolf between two families, with the adolescent Anne for a roommate.
On 16 November 1942, Fritz Pfeffer went into hiding in the Secret Annex. He was the dentist of Miep Gies and an acquaintance of Otto and Edith Frank. His fiancé Charlotte Kaletta had been a guest at the wedding of Miep and Jan Gies the previous year.
Fritz Pfeffer was born on 30 April 1889 in Giessen as the son of textile merchant Ignatz Pfeffer and Jeanette Hirsch. [1] . He had a sister and four brothers: Minna, Julius, Emil, Ernst and Hans. [2] After attending grammar school in his home town, he trained as a dentist at the University of Würzburg from 1908 to 1911.

According to Otto Frank, Fritz Pfeffer was the only one of the people in the Secret Annex who was truly religious. He had been raised Orthodox [1] and prayed every Friday. [2] Fritz Pfeffer's son, Werner, described his father as very religious, but not orthodox.
