Inge de Bruijn is a Dutch swimmer whose eight Olympic medals (2000, 2004) and five world championships made her one of the most successful competitors in women’s swimming history. De Bruijn began swimming at age 7 and participated in her first international meet at age 12.

With eight Olympic medals to her name, Inge de Bruijn is one of women’s swimming’s legends, confirming all the potential she showed at her first Games in 1992. Inge de Bruijn won her first medal at the World Championships in 1991 at the age of 17. For her first Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, she was one of the young hopefuls to follow.
Inge de Bruijn is the most successful Dutch athlete in history, winning eight Olympic medals, including four golds, and 11 World Records in freestyle and butterfly. She trained with Hall of Fame coach Paul Bergen and was named World Female Swimmer of the Year in 2000 and 2001.
