Makhaya Ntini OIS (born 6 July 1977) is a South African former professional cricketer, who played all forms of the game. He was the first black player to play for the South African national cricket team. Ntini was a member of the South Africa team that won the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy, the only ICC trophy the country has won to date.

Nov 2, 2010 · The first black African cricketer to play for South Africa, Makhaya Ntini, announced his retirement in 2010 after 13 years and 390 Test wickets. He reflected on his journey, challenges and achievements in a press conference and planned to focus on domestic and academy cricket.
Ntini became popular amongst national selectors as a talented Black player and found himself touring Australia at the end of 1997 when Roger Telemachus failed a fitness test. He made his South African one-day debut at Perth in early 1998, bowling well in helpful conditions.
