Mohammad Asghar Afghan ( Pashto: محمد اصغر افغان; born Mohammad Asghar Stanikzai) is an Afghan former cricketer who had captained the Afghanistan national cricket team. Asghar is a right-handed batsman and a medium-fast bowler. In May 2018, he was named as the captain of Afghanistan, for their inaugural Test match, against India.
Asghar Afghan is a former captain and middle order batter for Afghanistan, who played in 59 ODIs and 52 T20Is. He led Afghanistan to their first Test win and recorded a career-best 164 in 2021, but retired after the T20 World Cup.
