    Joseph Mell (23 June 1915 – 31 August 1977; age 62) was an actor who played an illusory Earth trader in the first pilot of Star Trek: The Original Series, "The Cage". Footage of his appearance was later used in the first season episode "The Menagerie, Part II". Despite having dialog, he was not credited in either episodes.

    He filmed his scenes for "The Cage" on Friday, 4 December 1964 on Desilu Culver Stage 15.

    His acting credits include I Was a Teenage Werewolf (also starring Whit Bissell and Michael Rougas).

    Mell enlisted in the US Army in May 1941.
