I chatted with local actress Janise K. Whelan about her upbringing her latest film, “Butterfly Kisses.” Talk about your childhood, where you grew up, etc. I was born and raised in the Baltimore area. When I was about twelve or thirteen, my folks had the presence of mind to send us to the Eastern Shore to get us away from the city schools.
Janise Whelan (Anne Marie) moved to Baltimore in 1983 and ended up in her first play at the original Fells Point Theater on S. Broadway in a production of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean as Sissy (then). Since then, she has performed in over 50 plays in Baltimore City and the surrounding areas.
