Fernando Martín Espina (March 25, 1962 – December 3, 1989) was a Spanish professional basketball player who was considered to be one of the best Spanish basketball players ever. Martín was 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall, and he played primarily at the center and power forward positions.
Fernando Martín Espina (Madrid; 25 de marzo de 1962-Madrid; 3 de diciembre de 1989) fue un jugador de baloncesto español, que disputó 9 temporadas en la ACB y una en la NBA, siendo el primer español en entrar en la competición estadounidense.
Fernando Martín is graduated in Chemistry (1984) and Physics (1986) by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and got his PhD degree in 1986 at the same university. He completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Bordeaux I, the Université de Paris VI and the University of Chicago.
