Jul 29, 2015 · Paul Cummins MBE, the artist behind the installation of 888,246 ceramic poppies at the Tower of London in 2014, is to be awarded an honorary Doctorate in Philosophy by the University. “I was surprised to get the nomination” Paul said, “especially as I’m studying for a PhD, but I’m really happy, I’m grateful for the honour.”

He then approached Historic Royal Palaces with his idea for a commemorative installation at the Tower of London.
