Jun 3, 2024 · Sadamasa Arikawa (有川 貞昌 さだまさ Arikawa Sadamasa), also known as Teisho Arikawa (有川 貞昌 ていしょう Arikawa Teishō), was a Japanese special effects director and cinematographer. A protégé of Eiji Tsuburaya, Arikawa worked first as a cameraman, shooting the effects for every Toho science fiction film from 1954 to 1966.
Sadamasa Arikawa was born on 7 June 1925 in Tokyo, Japan. Sadamasa was a producer, known for Godzilla (1954), The Phoenix (1978) and King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963). Sadamasa died on 22 September 2005 in Izu, Japan.

Sadamasa Arikawa (有川 貞昌, Arikawa Sadamasa, June 17, 1925; Tokyo, Japan - September 22, 2005; Higashiizu, Kamo, (Shizuoka, Japan), {age 80} ), often erroneously billed as Teisho Arikawa, was a Japanese special effects cinematographer and director.
In 1967 with the release of Son of Godzilla, Arikawa was officially the second individual to bear the title “Director of Special Effects” from Toho. Arikawa likened himself to Minya from that film, looking up to Tsuburaya’s Godzilla-like father figure.
Featuring a buoyant score by Masaru Sato and impressive wirework by special-effects director Sadamasa Arikawa, Son of Godzilla is lively, comic, and timely in its addressing of contemporary anxiety about worldwide food shortages.
