Downing College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge and currently has around 950 students. Founded in 1800, it was the only college to be added to Cambridge University between 1596 and 1869, and is often described as the oldest of the new colleges and the newest of the old. [6]

Downing College is a friendly and academic community in the heart of Cambridge. It offers accommodation, facilities, pastoral support and a range of subjects for undergraduate students.
The teaching of Downing’s undergraduates is shared between the University and the College. University faculties and departments hold lectures and practical classes, attended by students from all colleges. Individual or small-group teaching is provided by the College, taught by our Fellows and by those from elsewhere in the University.
Downing College accepts students in all subjects taught at the University of Cambridge. Our students live, learn and work together within the supportive College environment.
