Sagar is a city, municipal corporation and administrative headquarter in Sagar district of the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The city is situated on a spur of the Vindhya Range, 1,758 feet (536 m) above sea-level around 172 kilometres (107 mi) northeast of the state capital, Bhopal .

May 27, 2024 · The history of the town of Sagar dates back to about 1660 A.D. When Udan Shah, a descendant of Nihal Shah, built a small fort on the site of the present one, and founded a village close to it called Parkota which is now part of town.
Sagar, also called the lake city, is surrounded by the beautiful Lakha Banjara Lake. You can make for boating trips and refreshments. Also, there stands a sacred Hindu temple by the lake, with its own religious importance.
May 27, 2024 · Sagar Lake is situated in the heart of Sagar city ( 23 degree 50 Minutes N: 78 degree 45 Minutes E and 517 MSL) with an area of 82 hectares . It is a shallow, rained lake with a small catchment (588 hectares), and its north westward drainage agrees well with the general north westward drainage pattern of the district (Mishra, 1969).
