Sir Dorabji Tata (27 August 1859 – 3 June 1932) was an Indian industrialist of the British Raj, and a key figure in the history and development of the Tata Group. He was knighted in 1910 for his contributions to industry in British India.
Sir Dorabji Tata, the elder son of the Founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, was born on August 27, 1859, when Jamsetji was 20 years old. He attended the Proprietary High School in Bombay (Mumbai), and at the age of 16 was sent to a private tutor in Kent.
