William Lee (c. 1750 – 1810), also known as Billy or Will Lee, was an American slave and personal assistant of George Washington. He was the only one of Washington's slaves who was freed immediately by Washington's will.
William Lee served with Washington throughout the Revolutionary War. He was responsible for organizing the general’s personal affairs, including his voluminous papers , and holding his spyglass. As the attendant to a prominent figure, Lee became a minor celebrity.
