Sep 26, 2022 · Today we celebrate the life and career of Robert Christiansen (1935-2022), the first Scientist-in-Charge of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, a giant in developing a better understanding of volcanology throughout the western USA, and a dedicated colleague, mentor, and friend.

USGS geologist and the founding scientist-in-charge of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory Robert (Bob) Christiansen passed away on Sept. 15, 2022. He leaves a legacy of scientific achievement, articulate writing, and a warm and humble personality that endeared him to all.
Bob Christiansen has devoted his career to saving animal lives through education and Community Animal Management Systems. Today, Mr. Christiansen works to initiate animal welfare philanthropy to fund and support Community Veterinary Care Clinics for companion animals in need.
