Yash Pal (26 November 1926 – 24 July 2017) was an Indian scientist, educator and educationist. He was known for his contributions to the study of cosmic rays, as well as for being an institution-builder.

Jul 25, 2017 · Yash Pal's first job was at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). He also became a professor there, later. He was the man behind a science-based programme called 'Turning Point' on Doordarshan during the 90s. When the government decided to set up the Department of Space, Yash Pal was chosen as the first director of the newly set up Space Applications Centre in 1973. Meanwhile, he continued teaching at TIFR.
