Jorge Alberto Furtado (born June 9, 1959) is a Brazilian film and television director and screenwriter. Life and career. Furtado attended university for courses in medicine, psychology, journalism and arts, but did not graduate.

De formação parcialmente autodidata, cursou medicina, psicologia, jornalismo e artes plásticas, sem concluir nenhum dos cursos. Foi durante o curso de medicina na Fundação Católica (hoje UFCSPA) que Furtado descobriu o amor pelos filmes.
Jorge Furtado is a filmmaker who has written and directed several movies and TV shows, such as The Man Who Copied, Under Pressure and City of Men. He was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 1959 and is the father of actor Pedro Furtado.
