Aug 22, 2023 · It is striking how few of the tributes to Parkinson have paid proper attention to his producer, Richard Drewett, also in his mid-30s when the show started. From 1971 to 1977 Drewett created Parkinson, and went on to produce 132 editions of the show.
However, Parkinson and his producer, Richard Drewett (who had worked on Late Night Line-Up), envisaged a combination of guests whose celebrity had been achieved in different fields. Their plan was that the final section of each show would become a conversation rather than a formal interview.
