Robertas Urbonas started his career as an independent producer and executive in the entertainment business with film distribution. From 1989 to 1992 he worked as head of the Animation Studio and produced more than 50 short animation films. Since 1992 he has been managing the Lithuanian Film Studio.

He graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 1985, having obtained a degree in Organizing cultural and educational events. He then worked in the Pedagogical institute in Vilnius, esthetics department.
