Uwe Boll (German: [ˈuːvə ˈbɔl]; born June 22, 1965) is a German restaurateur and a former filmmaker. He financed his own films through his production companies Boll KG and Event Film Productions. Many of his films were produced on low budgets and Boll himself had backed his projects financially or made use of crowdfunding platforms.
Boll's subsequent projects, released during the 2010s, were mostly released straight to home media. After retiring in 2016 to become a restaurateur, Boll returned to filmmaking in 2022. His films are financed through his production companies Boll KG and Event Film Productions.
In 2000, he formed his personal production company, Boll KG, headquartered in Bergrheinfeld, Bavaria, Germany. In the same year, he also coproduced the Icelandic film, ‘Fíaskó’ and his first English language film, ‘Sanctimony’. He also wrote the script of the latter film.
