Jake David Shapiro (born March 18, 1969) is an American filmmaker and stand-up comedian. Shapiro is best known as the original screenwriter of the film Robin Hood: Men in Tights [1] and for writing the screenplay adaptation of L. Ron Hubbard 's novel Battlefield Earth.
David J. Shapiro is a researcher and educator in the fields of cancer, drug discovery, gene regulation, and signal transduction. He is known for identifying a novel small molecule, ErSO, that eradicates advanced breast and other cancers by activating a tumor-protective pathway.
As a child growing up poor with three sisters in a small, run-down house, JD's imagination became his sanctuary. Taking apart pens to see how they work, and undressing his sister's Barbie Dolls to see what was underneath, leading to a passion for storytelling and women.

Jun 3, 2024 · David E. Shapiro, of Robbinsville, N.J. passed away on June 3 rd, 2024 at the age of 53. David grew up in Howell, N.J. and graduated from Howell High School. He went on to earn a B.S. in Neuropsychopharmacology from Rutgers University.
We Married Margo is a 2000 American independent comedy film directed by J. David Shapiro and co-written by Shapiro and William Dozier. The film tells a story of two friends who were married to the same woman and is loosely based on real events in that Shapiro and Dozier actually met after dating the same woman named Margaux. [1]
