Hugo Emil Alfvén, född 1 maj 1872 i Stockholm, död 8 maj 1960 i Falun (då boende i Tibble i Leksand), [1] var en svensk tonsättare, violinist, dirigent och målare. Han var son till skräddarmästaren Anders Alfvén (död 1881) och Lotten Axelsson Puke (död 1913).
Hugo Alfvén had an especially productive period as a watercolor painter in the end of the 1940’s and beginning of the 1950’. Behind the eagerness to paint was a serious need of money and he sold most of his paintings. Many of his paintings can be seen here at Alfvéngården. Hugo Alfvén. 1872 - 1960. Hugo Emil Alfvén was a Swedish composer, conductor, violinist, and painter. Among his works are a large number of pieces for male voice choir, five symphonies and three orchestral "Swedish Rhapsodies." The first of these rhapsodies, Midsommarvaka is his best known piece.
