We find that Old Town Funchal is one of the best ways to get a proper sense of Madeiran culture, the food, and the people! You can walk around Rua Santa de Maria, along Avenida do Mar, and Av. Arriaga (which is what you see in the picture above).

  3. 6 days ago · Hi Sue, my personal favourite place to eat in the Old Town is Basmati restaurant. It's Nepalese, but also has an extensive menu of curries from around Southern Asia. Best selection of vegetarian options I've found in Funchal , and all dishes of any kind can be cooked to order - like however spicy you want.
