On a computer: Drag your file (s) to any surface on music.youtube.com. Go to music.youtube.com and click your profile picture Upload music. Supported file formats for uploads include FLAC, M4A, MP3, OGG, and WMA. You will see a progress bar indicating your music is uploading and a confirmation message once the songs have been uploaded.

Recently downloaded music on several USB sticks does not play on several audio devices I've tried: a home audio player, my car stereo, and my external computer speaker which has a USB port. The music plays normally on my Windows 10 computer and also on my phone. So first I thought it has to do with the USB stick(s).
Save to SD card by default. At the top of your screen, tap your profile picture. Tap Settings. Select Downloads. Switch on Use SD card (Save music to the SD card). If you don’t turn on SD card use, your music will save to your phone’s internal memory. Make sure that there’s enough space available on the SD card to save your music.
Once turned on, your offline mixtape automatically downloads music based on your listening history. If you don't like a song in your offline mixtape, you can remove it by swiping to the left. When you remove a song, it won’t be re-added to your mixtape, but you may still see it elsewhere in the YouTube Music app.
