Latest version of Google Photos app. Android 11 or up. When you open Photos or your device’s default gallery app, you may get a pop-up request for gallery access. To manage your device default gallery app’s access to user data in Google Photos, tap Don’t allow or Allow.

If the photo or video isn’t in your trash, it may be permanently deleted. At the bottom, tap Restore. Your photo or video will be back in: Albums that it was in. Google Photos library.
