The Department of Sociology of East Calcutta Girls’ College was Established on 2001 G.O C/61/238- Affl: Dated 8/1/2001 under the University of Calcutta and further got re-affiliated to West Bengal State University on 2008. The department has three efficient faculties.
Staffed by a committed team of professors, the Department of English maintains a high standard of academic excellence. Affiliated to West Bengal State University, the undergraduate CBCS programme in English provides students with a strong foundation in English Literature.

The Department follows the curricula as prescribed by West Bengal State University in both undergraduate and post graduate stages.
The Department of Physics of the East Calcutta Girls’ College was established in the year 1996 (Date of Affiliation with G.O. NO. & DATE: Pass: C/851/238-Affl dt: 05/09/1996). Till 2008, the department was under the University of Calcutta.
