Oct 7, 2020 · The heavy cavalry charge is still breathtaking - a perfect combination of score, sound and images. The huge battle scenes with thousands of extras make the movie one giant last hurrah of a now lost spectacle. The raw grittiness of the images can't be matched by today's CGI. The movie does hold up perfectly well today.

Jul 18, 2017 · In the humorous non-fictional historiography An Utterly Impartial History of Britain (2007), author John O'Farrell notes that Braveheart could not have been more historically inaccurate, even if a "Plasticine dog" had been inserted in the film and the title changed to William Wallace and Gromit. Hah. That'd be good one.
Jan 13, 2019 · Most of us don't really care. It's a movie designed for an American audience to sell loads tickets. Although Braveheart is kind of annoying because it basically gets everything wrong. Like EVERYTHING. The Patriot is funny because it's so over-the-top that it's not even believable.
I was never the one to watch movies, but now I'm trying to get started in this universe and would like to start with the "more important" ones. I'm doing a list (kinda like Captain America) and here's what I've got so far: The Matrix. Donnie Darko. Star Wars. Fight Club.
Of course, with the movie being essentially a fairy tale, it was possible for Mel to create this larger-than-life tall tale version of Wallace. People often cite its historical inaccuracy, but the second half of that is that it's based on the poems of Blind Harry, a Scottish poet who turned Wallace into a legend.
