They got sued by a former omegle user that was sexually abused/groomed on omegle. The claims were basically that omegle was negligent in providing safety protections for children. Omegle reached a settlement to shut down the site rather than go to trial and potentially be held financially liable for a large sum.

This has been going on for at least the past few weeks and months and probably more. I used to love having random conversations with people and now it's a bot every single effin time. Doesn't matter if I'm there a few mins or half an hour.
With Omegle gone, I don't see an easy website to easily fill it's gap. I believe the open source community is capable of creating something equivalent or greater. Jan 25, 2024 · Unfortunately the owner of omegle is dislikeable. Ofcourse there are other similar website and for me the best one right now is Emerald Chat, have you tried it yet? It got shut down. Lots of dudes seem to be reselling the content in telegram gcs/discord servers but they're all 99% scammers reselling a vid that's probably available elsewhere online.
