Ray Harris was an American rockabilly musician and songwriter. He formed a band with Wayne Powers, and wrote the songs "Come On, Little Mama" and "Greenback Dollar, Watch and Chain". He eventually recorded these at Sun Records with Sam Phillips. He also produced artists at Hi Records.

In the history of Sun Records, Ray Harris is but a minor footnote. He only saw two singles released on the little yellow label, but his inclusion in any rock history book is based on the fact that both of those records just happen to some of the greatest and rawest rockabilly ever recorded at Sun or anywhere else in the 1950s.

Ray Harris was one of the pioneers of rockabilly music. He made a brief if momentous appearance on the Sun label with two wild singles. But he didn't see himself as a singer, decided that he was "on the wrong side of the mike" and became a producer, co-founding the successful Hi label in Memphis.
